To ensure proper formatting of answer scripts,
inform students about the accepted numbering formats in advance.

Line breaks are triggered automatically when a recognised numbering pattern is detected at the start of an item.
All accepted formats must begin with a digit followed by a dot.

Important Notes

Must start with an Arabic digit

Every accepted format begins with one or more Arabic digits followed immediately by a dot. Roman numerals, standalone letters, or letters before the number are all rejected.

Sub-item letters — case flexible

After the number and dot, a single letter is optional. Both lowercase (1.a, 1.a.) and uppercase (1.A, 1.A.) are accepted. The trailing dot on sub-items is optional in both cases.

No parentheses

Parenthesis-style markers (1), 2)) are not supported. Use dot-style only (1., 2.).
